Hurricane-force winds took a man off his feet at the Mount Washington Observatory in New Hampshire.
In a blog posted on the observatory’s website, weather observer Mike Dorfman, describes what it’s like to “play” in winds gusting at more than 100 mph.
“Wind on the summit is an experience that you can’t just describe to understand,” he wrote. “It is really impossible to safely face down hundred-mile-per-hour winds almost anywhere else; (I was exhausted after several minutes of playing in the wind).”
The observatory, which is 6,288 feet above sea level, maintains a weather station at the summit.
