Hurricane Center identifies new system to watch

The National Hurricane Center has given a new system in the Gulf of Mexico a 10 percent chance of developing over the next two days.

Forecasters said an area of thunderstorms extending from Cuba to South Florida is associated with a weak trough that regardless of tropical development will bring heavy rains.

Significant development is not anticipated, the NHC wrote in its 2 p.m. outlook.

If the system did gain tropical storm status, it would be named Danielle.
