Update 3:23 p.m. A thunderstorm warning has been issued for western Palm Beach County until 3:45 p.m.
Meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm located over Lake Harbor and moving east at 30 mph.
Hazards include 60 mph wind gusts, which could damage trees, siding and roofs.
Update 2:54 p.m.: Forecasters are alerting coastal Palm Beach County residents that strong thunderstorms are heading east with excessive lightning and high winds.
The advisory is in effect until 3:30 p.m.
Previous story: The National Weather Service in Miami has issued a significant weather advisory for inland Palm Beach County as thunderstorms packing lightning and wind gusts up to 55 mph move northeast.
The alert is in effect until 2:45 p.m., but Miami meteorologists said storms are going to affect South Florida all afternoon and people should be aware of lightning threats.
