Though its chances of forming have dropped slightly, forecasters with the National Hurricane Center say a low-pressure system in the Atlantic remains likely to form into a tropical depression within the next two days.

The hurricane center said that the chances are at 70 percent for formation the next 48 hours and 80 percent in the next five days. Forecasters Saturday said that if it ends up as a storm or hurricane, it’s expected to follow a similar path to that of Gaston, which didn’t present problems to land.

Another area of concern is much less likely to form into a storm. This disturbance, which as of 2 p.m. was in the southern and eastern islands of the Bahamas, had a 10 percent chance of formation.
