Tiny Bermuda is bracing for Category 3 Hurricane Nicole, which is packing 125 mph winds and is moving north-northeast at 15 mph.
Nicole, which was briefly a Category 4 overnight, was about 55 miles southeast of Bermuda as of 8 a.m.
Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 65 miles form the center. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 175 miles.
Nicole is no threat to the U.S. and is expected to spin out into the Atlantic after hammering Bermuda.
Its brief spin-up into a Category 4 makes it the second to reach that status this month, the first being Hurricane Matthew. It is the first time since record-keeping began that two Category 4s or 5s have reached that pinnacle in the Atlantic in October.
