Disturbance near the Bahamas gets 80% chance of development, would be Otto

A cluster of showers and thunderstorms located a couple hundred miles northeast of the Turks and Caicos is becoming better organized and now has an 80 percent chance of tropical development over the next five days.

The system, which would be named Otto if it becomes a tropical storm, is not expected to affect Florida and should move north and northwest as a cold front pushes through the U.S. later this week, according to the National Hurricane Center.

A NOAA Hurricane Hunter is scheduled to fly into the system Wednesday afternoon, if necessary.
