Time lapse video of king tides in Delray Beach, coastal flood advisory in effect

A coastal flood advisory is in effect for southeast Florida as Monday’s full moon bolsters high tides.

The National Weather Service in Miami said the highest tides will occur Tuesday and Wednesday. The moon becomes full Monday morning, but it can take some time for gravity to catch up with it.

High tides Monday in Lake Worth are 7:18 a.m. and 7:31 p.m. High tides occur about 12 hours apart.

Flooding tides are common during September, October and November during full moons.

Monday’s full moon is the closest it’s been to Earth since 1948.

“Combined with a full moon, this will enhance gravitational pull and enhance the King Tides,” forecasters wrote in a Sunday morning briefing.
