BREAKING: See dramatic drought reduction in Florida from June rains

June’s heavy rainfall made a dramatic dent in Florida’s drought.

The U.S. Drought Monitor report released this morning shows only 12 percent of the state in a “moderate drought”, compared to last week’s report that still had 77 percent of Florida in moderate to “severe drought.”

This month, an average of 10.37 inches of rain has fallen in the Kissimmee basin north of Lake Okeechobee and throughout South Florida.

That’s 6.8 inches more than what’s normal. In eastern Palm Beach County, 10.17 inches of rain has fallen this month, 6.67 inches more than  normal.
