Help wanted: National Hurricane Center director’s job posted

Nearly two months into the 2017 hurricane season, the job for director of the National Hurricane Center was posted today.

Former director Rick Knabb resigned earlier this year to take a position as a hurricane expert with The Weather Channel. Knabb said he left the job because of the arduous travel schedule. He said in a recent interview that his main challenge was keeping the center fully staffed.

The director’s position has since been filled by an interim director.

The post pays between $124,406 and $187,000 per year.
