Coastal flood, high surf advisory as high tide nears

The National Weather Service has a coastal flood and high surf advisory in place through Tuesday evening with heightened concerns around today’s high tides.

High tides in Palm Beach County this morning are from about 10:20 through 11 a.m. with evening high tides beginning at about 11 p.m. to midnight.

The Lake Worth Pier and Juno Pier remain closed this morning with waves in the Gulfstream peaking to at least 14 feet today.

There is also a high risk of rip currents through Tuesday.

Winds at Palm Beach International Airport were northwest at 5 this morning, but are expected to be slightly higher at the beaches.

Two hours before low tide on Sunday waves were still breaking just underneath The William O. Lockhart Municipal Pier in Lake Worth. The pier will remain closed due to high winds and dangerous surf. “Conditions will continue to be monitored and upon the high winds and surf subsiding the pier will reopen,” city officials said in a statement in Lake Worth, Florida on March 4, 2018.
