This Palm Beach County community had highest rainfall in S. Fla. from Alberto

The National Weather Service in Miami tallied rain totals Monday night from Subtropical Storm Alberto and found Palm Beach County won the top spot for highest rainfall in South Florida.

In a 96-hour total ending at 8 p.m.  Monday, Boynton Beach received 8.8 inches of rain – the most of any area overseen by the Miami office, including Broward, Miami-Dade, Collier, Hendry and Glades counties.

The runner-up for Alberto rainfall was Parkland, which received 8.4 inches of rain.

Palm Beach International Airport received 3.42 inches of rain Friday through Monday 8 p.m., according to the weather service’s official gauge.
