Video of whale shark off West Palm Beach will leave you speechless

Keith and Brittany Brock posted an incredible video on YouTube this week of a whale shark they filmed off West Palm Beach on Saturday.

According to a Facebook post, the shark was seen while the couple was diving in about 30 feet of water at an area known as “The Trench”

“Few things leave me speechless, but this did,” Brittany Brock wrote on her Facebook page. “People dive their entire lives and never get to witness this. This guy was bigger than a school bus.”

In March, a whale shark spent several minutes around Billy Swezey’s boat 4 to 5 miles off the Jupiter Inlet.

And in January, a 20-foot wale shark was also spotted off Jupiter’s coast.

According to the Florida Museum, whale sharks can grow to 40 feet.

While whale sharks are docile and no threat to humans, there have been incidences of them “butting sport fishing boats, possibly after being provoked.”

The whale shark prefers warm waters but its habitat can range from New York, through the Caribbean to Central Brazil.
