Cold front kicks off Thanksgiving week

A weak cold front is pushing through South Florida this  morning, bringing slightly cooler temperatures and increasing chances of rain.

The front is expected to stall over the Florida Straits with northeasterly winds carrying in moisture from the warm waters of the Atlantic.

Rip current risks are high for Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade beaches today with gusty winds. Seas could reach up to 8 feet in the Gulf Stream through Monday night.

Today’s rain chances are 40 percent increasing to 60 percent for Tuesday.

High temperatures should remain slightly below normal today and Tuesday with the mercury struggling to reach 80 degrees. Overnight lows are forecast to be in the high 60s.

By Wednesday, temperatures warm into the low 80s, but with rain chances at 50 percent and increasing to 70 percent for Thanksgiving Day.
